so i have a 99 a4 2.8 (not the quattro)

Now i know you can get the vag-com cable on amazon for like 10 bucks, but for my model is there a specific version of software i need?

Im going to be using it a lot for things such as re alining the butterfly in my throttle body, and timing checks etc.

and one more thing is after i get the program im interested in deleting some cels (such as my secondary air pump cel) its pissing me off having to clear my codes with my pocket reader every 40 miles or so.

Any answers or thoughts on the topic would be appreciated.

 

Get the newest download of vagcom and a cable and you're good. You can't align the throttle body plate on a 99 - it's a cable-driven throttle - but you can sync the TOS which will help. You can clear codes as well but you can't code out the SAP failure with it. That requires a reflash of the ECU from a tuner to code out the SAP.
