Default My Beast is going Under the Knife

So I was in San Diego for the past weekend, just wanted to stop by La Jolla Autotech to say hi to my Audi Mechanic, then just asked him to put my car on the lift to check out some noice going on, found out it was a no biggy, it's just the pads, rubbing a lil bit, it'll rub out eventually,

then

he started poking around, just to make sure the car is in tip top condition, he noticed my CV boot is cracking, but not leaking grease yet, but I already knew that, he poked around some more, then...... he said " Awww.... Shiiiiiit, this is NO GOOD NAM!!!!!, REALLLY, this is no good". he found that the arm connecting the wheel to the tranny is loose, but it's not the joint that's loose, it's the FREAKIN BEARING INSIDE MY TRANNY!!!!!!! just thinking about a tranny fix means $$$$$$$ out my pocket. he said, either trade in your audi IMMEDIATELY!!!!! or get it fixed, it could either last 1 day, or 6 months, I'll never know until it really goes wrong and end up eithe trashing the car, or replacing the Tranny.

I thought about selling the car, and getting another used Audi, which means maybe even more problems down the road, or getting it fixed. so i got it estimated, the labor along to pull out the tranny is $1,400!!!!!! and until the pull the tranny out, then they'll figure what parts are needed for the bearing, but he said probably no more than $500 in parts, then also the 3 CV boots that i need to change out, so in the end, I'm looking at $2000 out of my pocket by Thanksgiving Day. that's not includin the rental car I'm driving so another $170.

Well, that's my Week, how was yours? btw, since my apartment in LA got flooded a week ago, I had to move out of my apartment and into another one. What a week eh? Since the flood wasn't my fault, I don't have to pay rent for 2 months, so at least I have some cash to fix my car. I guess things happen for a reason.

yes, very true...why dont you hit up different spots to see prices? maybe you can find it a bit cheaper.

hope it turns out well, else on the bright side you can get a newer/new car.

I'm living in freakin SLO, by myself, IN THE MIDDLE OF FUQIN NOWHERE!!!!!! there are only 2 credited tranny mechanic shops around here, if I was in LA, it'll be a different story, maybe I'll get my boss to pay for the bills since it IS my way of transportation from work.
