SoCal Group Maintenance Sessions
I'm going to be yanking my turbo off to put in a new cat/test pipe mounting stud since I torqued one of them off and installing a labree hfc at the same time. I'm not sure when I'll be doing this as my weekends for the next couple of weeks are pretty busy, but there's a good chance that it will happen the beginning of april.
anyone want to learn what goes into a turbo uninstall and reinstall?

it is, more or less, but I have the get the turbo out, drill out the broken stud with some easy-outs, replace it with the right sized stud, and then make sure everything is installed correctly, including my hfc that I plan on wrapping with some top-of-the-line aerospace grade thermal insulation that I was allowed to bring home from work (SCORE).
it might be a one day project, but I like to take my time when doing this kind of extensive work to make sure everything is done properly, so I padded it up to two days. we'll see though.
by the way, I plan on tackling this next wednesday night, 3/25, since I have the following two days off from work. if anyone wants to help/observe/supervise and is free at some point wed - fri, let me know.

I'm probably going to kick myself later, but I just backed out on a deal for a k04-015 for 500 shipped. I can't afford to drop any more cash on my car right now and I need to install all the **** I have piled up already before I get anything else.
I'll find another deal though. I just don't want to pick this up right now because I know it's going to lead to a fmic, inlet hose, injectors, fpr, and tuning, all of which won't be in my price range for a bit.
damnit.

I win
I just pulled that broken stud out of my turbo without removing. one of my buddies had a set of stripped nut removal tools that I was able to use to back the stud right out with. I'm buying a set of these ASAP just to have. I can't have enough of these little specialty tools.
if you haven't seen them, check em out:

those guys saved me quite a bit of labor. all I have to do now is replace the studs and put on that HFC in the morning.
