Default I got these

OEM Wheels, LLC -- R8's in 18X8 Gunmetal Finish, ~$113 each -- SHIPPED!!

I have Blizzak LM-25's on there and they have been VERY good in light and deep snow. I would say "good" on ice.

I installed replica RS4 wheels on my lowered A3 about 17,000 miles ago. Two of the four are now shot/bent and need to be replaced. Driving Los Angeles streets mostly. Pothole hazards were not always successfully avoided. I am told by my Audi mechanic that OEM wheels are substantially stronger and will not get bent as easily. If you are just cruising freeways mostly, go with the replica wheels and save some $$$. Otherwise, probably better to pick up somebody's cast off OEMs. That's my plan, at least.

I use the same rule of thumb, no matter what wheels I am running. Inflate to 38 lbs -- at least. Then drive over potholes and other road anomalies with caution. Here, in Chicago, we have potholes as well and I drive my Audi almost daily on all sorts of road types. I haven't had a single blemish on my rims and that includes running the car through the automated car wash. Maybe there are different qualities of aftermarket rims out there so some are softer than others? I don't know. Sorry to hear of your bad experience. I just don't think real Audi wheels (and the price that goes along with them) are great enough for winter driving.

Heck, if mine look this good in Spring, I may order another set and put R compounds on them!

That's where mine are from.

The wheels still look good with several automatic car washes and salt beatings this winter. A great product!
