Severe tire wear at the track
I'm hoping someone who knows more than me can help me out ...
I run my 2006 S4 at HPDE events with the Porsche club at NJMP. It's all-out speed at two world class road courses, great fun!!
But, I'm experiencing really bad tire wear, and can not afford to keep shreading brand new rubber every time I go! I've made some suspension changes that I thought would help but really haven't. I installed adjusted upper control arms, and set camber to -2.50 degrees up front, with virtually zero toe in/out all around.
I'm running tire pressures that start, cold, at 36 psi on the front left, 37 psi on front right and rear left, and 38 psi on my rear right tire. When I come off the track after a 20-25 minute session, my pressures are almost dead even all around at 46 psi.
I've included some pics to show the tire degradation. The set shown literally has only 2 track days (7 sessions) worth of wear. Before you say it, the same thing happened to a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cups too.
I have some thoughts as to what I'm screwing up here, but really was hoping that some expert would set me straight!!
Thanks for any help/info you may have!
