Hey everyone, how's it going?

I just got a 2004 A6 2.7T S-line this past summer. I love the car, but unfortunately I need to go shopping for winter tires/wheels now.

According to tirerack I can get 17s (235/45-17) or 18s (235/40-18). My question for everyone: How flexible can I be with tire sizes, and is the tirerack recommendations accurate? I know the S-Line model has larger brakes/calipers and I've been told 16s probably won't match up on my car. Should I stick with these recommended tire sizes? Also, any particular brands people recommend?

P.S. I'm up in Massachusetts so if anyone in the area has a set of tires and wheels they're looking to sell, definitely feel free to message me.

I recognize that TR gives you many more options in 17s/18s, but I see they offer a 16" package option as well...that would be my personal preference for navigating a NE Winter.
And having sold & installed dozens of TR Winter pkgs, I can tell you that they're rarely wrong when if comes to sizing & fitment.

I actually just found a guy who has a set of tires that are the right size and some aftermarket wheels to go with them. The only thing is, he has a 2005 A6 (new model year) and I checked around and even though the bolt pattern is the same, the standard offset is 2mm off compared to the 2004. Is that gonna be an issue once I throw the wheel on my car?
