Long story but funny,
So the car started getting a flat tire as winter really got cold here in the Midwest. As I look at the tire size on this car it has 265/35/20 all the way around. No big deal right? So I call up discount tire to have a new one put on because I noticed the sidewall had a gouge in it. Turns out that tire size isn't the size that came with the car or a size that was any OEM option so they will not replace the tire. Fine. I remember a full size spare in the trunk so whatever, I'll just take it home put the spare on and bring the rim to them and call it a day. The rims buy the way have an audi center cap so I assume it was a size that came on one of them. The previous owner had them chrome wrapped with that crap that just starts peeling off after awhile but the badging is all blacked out.
I open up the trunk and look at the spare and just my luck the spare is 255/45/18. Which is an actual size the car comes with from the factory. Who knew! I spend 15 minutes learning how to operate the strangest looking jack I have ever used in my life, which after you figure it out, works better then any floor jack I could have used. Take the rim up to the place to get a tire on it and they mounted the tire backwards. I had a different shop fix it but now I am in the market for some black 18" rims to match the full size spare I have.
Just thought I'd share the story and the journey of my adventures with the D3 A8.
