Has anybody else had extreme problems like this
That's not an extreme problem. Having a fried alternator after 2 weeks of buying my B5 after owning an A6 2.7t for 70k miles under a tennage foot w/o a problem sucks. That set my hopes of liking the 1.8t engine to the ground. But I've started to like my car more and more. Search all over the internet for knowledge, if you don't wanna post in other sites don't, but pick out hints and diys from other places and throw yourself at wrenching. The only reason I know a lot bout engines at a young age is that I've been suscribed to most car mags since I was 8 (I didn't even know what a gasket was) and now I sleep, eat and **** anything car related. Don't lose your faith in Audi yet, wait til your TB snaps. lol jk
if you cant put money into the car in the form of maintainence you will be shelling out tons more money in the form of repairs when stuff breaks. i would consider a thermostat a maintainence item, they wear out and require replacement. its a fact of life. especialy in a 13-14 year old car.
when you first buy a used older audi you should have an extra thousand in the bank for repairs and maintainence like this.
way low miles but still 11+ years old. some things go bad with miles, others fail with time. There are some things that you will end up replacing just because the plastic gets old and gets brittle, stuff like that. Any 10 year old car is going to have some issues, even a honda.
yeah i was quite frustratred when i innitially posted and i realize that its not an extreme problem
so yeah but it is still an awsome car anyways and no matter what the cost
i doubt i will get rid of it unless its mass amounts of money having to be put in at one time
so thats my theory on what im going to do
even though i complained so hardcore when i innitially posted this thread

the guy tells me that not only was the sensor bad but the actuall thermistat for the whole engine
was bad
so it ended up costing me $280
and if anything else to do with thermistats goes wrong im going to get rid of it and get a
1.8T
but has anybody else had this problem?

If your going to own an audi, you'll quickly learn to work on the car yourself, or you have lots of money. Now that both are replaced, you shouldn't have to worry about them again.
When I bought my first audi I didn't have tools, money, or any knowledge on how to work on cars. After I realized that these cars are SUPER expensive to have other people fixed I sat on these forums for hours upon hours reading up on stuff. If something went wrong with the car the car I would look up how to fix it. I would figure out what tools I needed and then go buy them. I am not kidding when I say this but my very first DIY i ever did on my car was change the timing belt! Took me forever but I did it. LOL And at the time I didn't have tools so I called up a friend who did, drove the car to his shop and work on it there.
