Steering adjustment?

Hey whats up...I ordered bilstein shocks, and the matching springs (came in a set from tirerack.com) supposed to lower the car about 1.4 inches. I don't think so, but will i have to mod the steering controls at all. i have a buddy who did his 335 xi 2 inches, and he had to get new steering linkages, and drill out the hole going into the motor housing from inside the car because the angle's got so f#$cked up. if so...first off that blows... secondl it was hard enough to find parts that REALLY fit the car well in the first place so where in the hell would i find this kind of stuff.
