Default Trouble Starting my car...??

99 a4 2.8qm...lately my car randomly has occasional trouble starting. Sometimes it starts right up, and other random times it takes several ignitions to turn on. Does anyone know what might be the cause of this? I'm assuming it's the ignition switch, but it doesn't make sense to me because usually it starts up perfectly. I want to catch it soon before I end up getting stranded somewhere, anyone know or have experienced this?

ignition switch??? I'd more so look towards coils. does it do it at certain times, like when it's hot or cold?

Get the codes from the ECU. They may lead us somewhere useful.

the same thing happen to me it was engine coolant temp sensor . then sensor will make our cars do som wacked out stuff. the part should be no more then 10 dollars ( give or take ) and it takes about ten mins to install if that. good luck and let us know if that was the problem

+1 for the coolant sensor here, it did throw a sporadic code (which came up before the hard starting) for me too though that didnt turn on the check engine.
