A4 starting trouble

Default A4 starting trouble

I have An A4 1999 V6 V30 Quattro and its have trouble starting. It only happens every now and then but it seems to not want to turn over. I can hold the key for a minute or two but it just makes the beginning nose like its about too but wont and when it finally dose a black smoke comes out the exhaust that sells like gas and oil. Any suggestions ?????????????????

check the battery out ( is the alternator charging it? or is the battery bad ) could also be bad ground wires

Check the ECU for codes and post them.

Check the crank sensor codes will tell you.

sounds like an intermittant coolant temp sensor issue.

The engine would still crank fine with a faulty cts sensor, good guess though.
