Default Desperately need help!!!

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and am seeking advice. I have a '96 A4 which I purchased not more than a year ago. About a month ago both headlights went out at the same time. The highbeams flash works, but nothing else. I've taken it to a mechanic and he had it for over a week and still doesnt know what the problem is. I went to another mechanic for a second opinion and he thinks its the headliht switch (which he doesn't know how to fix). I don't want to shell 105dollars/hour and go to the dealer to have them charge me an arm and a leg. I already pay that for my insurance and I only I have liability. Someone PLEASE HELP!

Sounds like the switch for sure. Part is approx 120 bucks. You can install it yourself if you are mechanically inclined.

Sounds to me like you don't want that mechanic working on your car anyway lol.

I think you can just switch the positive and negitive wires in the harness with the high beam wires, you wont have high beams anymore but its better than nothing. Take out your headlight housing (3 or 4 bolts) and use a volt meter to detirmine which wires are which and just switch them. I have never done this so I cant be certain that it will work but I cant see why not. Good luck
