Default Warranty Question

I bought my A6 used and currently it has 40K miles on it. When i bought the car it had no service records with it at all. I am having what I believe to be a problem related to a sensor.

My questions are:

1) Is Audi warranty transferable?

2) Will Audi stand behind the warranty even though I don't have records?

I think your only option is to buy an aftermarket warranty? They are a little sketchy but still give you a little coverage. They are about 3 grand though. At least that's what mine cost and I had it figured into my loan. Not sure what your other options would be?

If the car is under 5 yrs old from the "in service date" and under 50k miles the warranty is still good

The warranty is for the car and goes with it

Also what is your problem??

That's good to know. I always thought the warranty was void once the vehicle changed hands. Is the warranty good until it hits the mileage mark?

AudiTech, thanks for the response.

The problem I am having is this... The yellow oil light, the one with the "oil can" comes on in the display, I checked tbe oil and it was fine. Put the dipstick back in and started car and light was no longer on. About 50 miles later light comes on again so I took the car to an oil change place and had it changed. Light stayed off for about 50 - 100 miles then came on again. If I open the oil cap and check the dipstick the light goes out everytime for about 50 miles then comes on again.

You need a new oil level snesor in the oil pan. That is as long as the wiring for the sensor is ok. Usually is especially in the case of an intermitant problem.

Default RE: Warranty Question

What year is your car? I think in 2001, Audi started the 4 year / 50000 mile warranty (there was NEVER a 5/50), and the 4 year clock started the day it first went into service. Your dealer can tell you over the phone if your car is still under warranty with just the VIN. Fully transferable to the new owner, as long as it is still under warranty (time AND miles). If already timed out, then you are out of pocket, or you can buy an extended warranty.

My car (2002) only has 41k miles on it, but I am out of the factory warranty because the 4 year anniversary of the in-service date was June 15th, 2006.

That looks like the correct part.
