Hello all, I'm a new 2004 A4 3.0 Quattro owner and am trying to get the bumpers painted. I've seen the late 04 and 05 models out there and they look MUCH better with the entire car painted. Can someone recommend a shop that would do a great job in the DC area? Also, I've contacted a few body shops and they seem to think the unpainted surface of the car is textured there for not paintable. Is that true? The surface seems pretty smooth to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I can't recommend a shop for you, because I don't live in the DC area. Many people paint their lowers though, its a common thing. There shouln't be any reason to not be able to get that done.

 

no matter how smooth it feels it is still textured, if you want it to look good, have them sand it, maybe use some body fill, then prime/paint...
