Default If I were to buy a chipped ECU...

I'm looking to buy an ECU that's already been chipped, and I've found a seller. I'm going to be putting it in my 2000 1.8T. The sellers car is also a 2000 1.8T. Is there any way that the chip can't work on my car? That is, was there any weird changes to the engine in the middle of the 2000 model year that would make the chip not work? Or are all 2000's the same?

Thanks

As long as the ECU numbers are the same, it should work.

I am selling my 2000 1.8t Quattro Manual - GIAC Chipped ECU

My ECU CODE is 4B0 906 018 P.

Compare it with yours. Let me know if you are interested. Otherwise, compare the sellers ecu with yours.

I've been looking all around, how do you find out what ECU # I have? Do I just have to take the ECU out?

I think it may be written on the actual ecu. I will let someone else confirm that. I was able to get my ECU code via VAG-COM.

Ok, I guess I'll crack it open tomorrow and have a look. If the other guys chip isn't the same as mine and yours is, you'll be getting a PM.
