I recently acquired an A6, in somewhat sad shape.

Bottomline, at least one turbo is toast. I need to either rebuild or replace.

I live in nw suburbs of Chicago.

I am looking to this forum for suggestions.

What do you think?

Check Shokan.com. They sell used Audi parts. If you buy a new turbo, you will need to replace both!

I suggest selling the car to me really cheap. You can only replace one turbo, but it is highly recommend to replace them as a pair. Also, you do realize to replace the turbos, you have to remove the engine. Thats one costly proposition. Two new turbos will cost about as much as the labor to replace them. Considering how hard they are to replace, i would go with a quality new turbo. No reason to attempt a rebuild or refurbished turbo.

 

Come to think of it, why not upgrade the turbos. Sounds like a good reason to get a couple k04's.
