Just test drove an 02 1.8. Does this sound good?
Hi, I was thinking about getting an B6 A4 for about a month now and well test drove one today.
It was a 2002 A4 1.8 61,000, dark blue with grey leatherette. Automatic with tiptronic and heated front and rear seats. The price was $17,995.
I currently have an 96 A6 2.8 Avant, Pearl white with black leather with 168,000 miles. The A4 is at a VW dealer and they will give me $4,000 in on a trade. This includes the taxes on the A4. so that brings it down to $13,995.
The only thing that isn't makeing me jump is that the warrenty is 90, or 3k. a 1 year 12k warrenty is optional but will cost alittle more that can be put into the payments, so I dont know. I was going to wait anyway to see if I can find a 3.0 as I would like that alittle more but ither will do. What do you guys think.

I paid $18.5k for my 02 A4 TQM Sport in 10/05, came to just under $20k with tax and tags. The car had just under 45k miles on it, came with the cold weather package and a votex body kit. I think the price the dealer is asking is a bit high personally but perhaps regional differences account for the price difference.
try to get them down to 15k or maybe a little less. if they do then go for it. a4's are a dime a dozen and there are always other deals. for reference my '01.5 i paid 13k out the door from Laurel Audi dealership. thats with 50k on the clock and the car has every option possible for the 1.8T. and that was 6 months ago. if you really like the car, then get it. im sure its gunna be a huge difference from your 96. good luck
