Default Is my central locking dying?

I have been trying to program my remote to no avail. I did some reading on the board to try to find out my issue,I noticed this stuff with my car and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

I believe my key programming issue is derived from this - I can not lock the entire car with my key from the outside. (you know, hold the key in the lock position, it rolls up windows and locks the entire car)

I can get my door to lock with the key from outside, no others.
I did reactivate the convenience feature which allows the auto window roll down with a hold of the window button.
I can unlock the entire car from the outside.
Inside, there are no alarm lights by my door locks but all of the power stuff works from inside - locks, windows, etc.
My locks pop up slow.
My dash lights fade off and on (very noticable driving at night)

I did notice that there are 2 RCA cables for an amp and what looks like to be an amp ground stray under/behind my rear seats which was wired into the car.

I would really like to get these issues taken care of :-(

ok let me see if it`s a programing problum...
on my 96 audi a4 you need to...
1)you need 2 keys
2)unlock all doors
3)put 1 key in ignishion and turn on accery
4)colse the door
5)use 2nd. key to lock the doors
6)when locking the doors hold down the lock and onlock
on remote, this will after a few sec. flash the lights on the car and unlock all doors, well there you have it
if like mine i have a problum with my remote it dont work no longer [&o]so programing dont work so im on the hunt for a new one audi want`s $180 so i just might put in a new alarm using the wireingunder back seat for stock keyless entry.
here is what it looks like

Sorry I'm gonna bump this guys. Still having the issues. All the same as described, although I fixed my dash lights. I did some research and it seems like the central locking pump could be part of the issue?

i wish i had dying pump history, but when i bought my car the pump was shot. @ that point, the key in the lock only opened the the drivers door. any other had to be unlocked from the inside by pulling the handle. the key in the lock did open and close the windows. pray its the pump going and not a leak in a hose somewhere or electrical. those would be a pita to track. don't know if this info helps
