Default Central Locking

Theres a lot of members suffering central locking problems out there across all models.

I was one of them.

I have posted an update under A6 but thought it may be an idea to cover other models as they may be caused by the same problem. VW Passats definately suffer exactly the same as my A^.

The start of the problem was rainwater in the passenger footwell (rhd) caused after new windscreen fitted.
The central locking module was flooded.
After drying unit and car remotes did not work and alarm kept going off and doors unlocking themselves.

The cure was to replace the crimp connectors in the wiring harness - by the module - with soldered joints.

I could not beleive that crimp connectors are used. Vorsprung durch technik - or what.

Hop this helps some of you out there.

In reply to avant80@2.6, the wiring had most definately not been worked on before.

I got the info on crimp connectors from a service reception guy at a Volkswagen dealership.

He told me that Passats suffer from exactly the same problem and told me exactly where to find the connectors.

There are six crimp connectors connecting the door and tailgate sensors and locking and unlocking circuits. They are in the loom that runs backwards just below the middle of the passenger door.
