We have an 89 audi 100 and the alternator belt will turn itself inside out. Could this be a pulley alignment issue? Is there anything special I should know?

run the car see if the belt does it.....also look at it from the side....if it seems out of line......go to the dealer.....other than that tighen the belt a bit or buy a new one

okay, switched alternators, so 99.9999% chance that alternator is good. car runs, but alternator belt keeps loosening. pulleys seem to be aligned. getting very frustrated!! :(haven't thrown anything.......yet:)
