Default Long weekend almost finished with mods and maintenance.

What a weekend, 3 solid days of a knuckle busting swearing good time. Just a few minor things to put back together.

Replaced timing belt, engine mounts (S4), snub mount (PureMS), vacuume hoses, N75 (went with J type), BPV (baileys), switched to K04 (AWE kit), port&polish exhaust manifold (I didnt see a huge difference from the old one but there was a difference), test pipe (they should have made it 2 3/4, what a pain getting the damn nuts on, rear o2 sensor hole should be rotated more to the side), electric fan.

I was a little nervous with the timing belt but that was one of the easiest things to do, no problems at all. I forgot to tighten the return coolant line on the turbo, when I filled up coolant started to leak out. That is a major pain in the *** to tighten with the turbo bolted on. Im still running on the stock software but the car feels faster than before. Boost spikes at 10psi and holds around 8-9, I never got past 8 with the k03. Not sure if the test pipe or N75 may have somehting to do with that. I can clearly hear the turbo spool now, even at 5psi. Ill be sending out my ecu next month, cant wait for that. The car feels a little smoother to, not sure if it is the engine mounts. My snub mount wasnt in too bad of shape but that may have something to do with it to. I did have vibration when the car ideled. I adjusted the dookikey that the snub fits into. The vibration is much better but it is still very slight there. I also feel a lot of road transition but I think that is my suspension, im getting a lot of squeaking, I will be replacing that in a few months.

Next up ECU software, fuel pressure regulator, and MBC.

Its going to AWE, they still have the chip. Im using their K04 program. Are there any others for 99? I never asked.
I need my car for work and am going on vacation next month so that will be a good time to send it out.

After some more driving the shifting and feel is MUCH better. I can shift into first now with out having to come to a complete stop. Everything just feels so much smoother. I would say the mounts are a very good upgrade.

you should look into changing your tranny mounts to the allroad mounts, i've heard that's a pretty good upgrade as well...

That wont work for the 1.8 tranny. The driver mount is different. However I was thinking about switching to the 2.8 tranny
