A6 2.7t wont start-no fuel symptom -just cranks. New fuel ump no help
Have an 02 A6 2.7t that died in traffic and wouldn't restart. Just cranked. Put new fuel pump in- same problem. Intermittent now. Sat for an hour running. Would not restart after off for an hour or so. Sat over night - you guessed it- it stated.
Any ideas on this gremlin?
Thanks all!!!!

Intermittent gremlins are tough to find. First, make sure your new fuel pump is actually working. Do the start/run/stop then re-start thing. If it does not start, pull the fuel line from the filter (be careful) and try cranking to ensure fuel is being pumped. I'll assume you have replaced the fuel filter. The symptoms sound similar to what I went through this summer with a failing fuel pump. I stopped after driving for ~2 hours and it would not start. After waiting over an hour, and multiple tries, it finally started and I almost made it home before it just died on the highway at 75 mph. Had it flat bedded and the fuel pump replaced. Problem solved.
All three components of fuel, air, and spark are needed. Since fuel is the one that changed, that is the area to explore first. Good luck.

I jacked up My wife's 2000 A6 2.8 to see if I could find where a noise was coming from, which turns out to the cv joint, I was going to change the oil and when I went to start it, it cranks over but won't start. It has spark, and I did a volume test on the fuel pump, the manual says it should be getting 375ml in 15 seconds, I got right at 350ml. Would that be enough for it not to start?
