Default Rear Interior light

The rear interior dome light in my A6 is out, but the reading lamps and all of the other lamps still work. I've played with the switch and replaced both bulbs with no success. Do I have to replace the whole rear lamp assembly or just a few parts? Is this easy to do myself or does the roof panel have to come off and better done by a mechanic?

I had exactly the same problem with my rear light. I pulled it out of the roof, prying with a small screw driver toward the front side in front of the map lights. I unplugged it and sprayed all the contacts and the wiring connection with contact cleaner. Plugged it back in and worked the switch a few times. Works.
