Default No brake lights.

Ok, so here's my problem:

My brake lights do not work, but my tail lights, reverse lights, and blinkers all work fine.

The odds of all 4 bulbs in the tail lights, plus however many are in the 3rd brake light in the hatch going out at once are slim to none.

The fuse in the dash is fine.

The only two other things we could think of are (a) the brake switch is bad or (b) the relay for the brake switch is bad (provided there IS a relay for the b rake switch).

Any ideas?

Also, we found the relay box under the hood, but there was only one relay in it (labeled 373 I think) and the other spots were unfilled. Is this normal?

Thanks,
Jon

Ok well, I took the brake switch out and tested it with a multimeter. It tested out fine, so I put it back in and low and behold, the brake lights worked...

Do you guys think this means the switch is on its way out or it was simply stuck?

Just replace it. Its only like $40. Its a common problem and likely on its way out.

Alright, I will. Thanks! Do I just get it from the dealer or is there a quality aftermarket one available for cheaper?

I was going to say wait until it goes bad repeatedly , then replace it.
That's cheap, gotta be the cheapest part on the car.
Not like the $100 navigation switch I had to replace when I first got mine. The **** was broke and they tried to super glue it back on, that was a fail but it worked long enough to get the car sold .
