Hello, I need some help and dont want to take my car in right yet. It is a 97 a4Q 2.8 and when i turn the lights on or the parking lights the hiback brake light and the tail lights are permanently lit and dont get brighter when i press the brake. Pretty annoying problem, any help would be great. Thank You

Make sure you have the right bulbs and they are installed properly.

 

sounds to me like u have a crossed wire someplace...meaning that the wire that feeds power to the tail lights when u just put on the headlights is actually making contact with the wire that gives power to the brake lights..when its not supposed to...or there is a smaller chance that ur brake light switch (the switch that is connected to the brake pedal to turn on the brake lights) is malfunctioning...if u dont know about wiring and electricity then id suggest to take it im someplace..if u have some experience seeif u can get urself a wiring diagram and try to figure it out
