Default 98 A4 Cigarette lighter socket power question

Is there a way to make the cigarette lighter power go off when I turn the car off? I'm sure back in 1998 the lighter was important to have without the car on, but now and days I use this to power radar detector/GPS and it would be great to figure out how to make it turn off with the car.

Any suggestions or easy wiring fixes would be a big help. Thanks.

Do you know your way around wiring? If so, all it would come down to would be getting a wiring diagram of which wires in the harness behind the plug are for power and tracing them back to the main wiring harness under the dash where your left knee hangs out while you're driving. There is a relay panel under there as well where you could take the wire you find is the main power supply for the lighter and swap it from wherever it currently is plugged in and stick it on the power post that is controlled by the ignition switch, the fourth from the left if I remember right, and then the power to the lighter would require the key to be "on" for power to be delivered to your devices. This is also a useful power post to keep in mind for any auxiliary lighting you might add to your car, inside or out, that you want to have come on when you start the car, and shut off when you exit the car.

Best of luck to ya!
