Default Advice please!!!

i am hoping that 1 or 2 people, preferably people with very good knowledge of the mechanics of the a4..

i have an 02 a4 1.8t that is just turning 70,000..i bought the car with 41,000 and have never had one issue..i get the oil changed at audi and the last service i had was at 57,000 miles at which time i got audi's 50,000 mile service..

i am wondering what my next step is, i have never had a problem with the car, i have a bumper to bumper warranty until 100,000 miles..i was going to get a 60,000 mile service at audi but was quoted a price of almost 3000 dollars...i know i should get the timing belt done but is it neccessary to get the 60,000 service???i will gladly pay the money if it is worth it..

my questions are, what should i do and who should i take it too..i live in the tampa area and don't know of anybody besides audi..

i really would appreciate whatever suggestions you have, i am not capable of working on the car and want to make sure i do the best thing for the car and my wallet..

thanks in advance...

The 60K service is a rip off, im guessing since they quoted you 3 grand you have a CVT transmission correct?

The 60k service includes spark plugs, air filter, pollen filter, OBDII memory scan, oil and filter change, lube of all hinges. Thats about it. If you have a CVT they sometimes throw in a CVT transmission fluid change because the things have so many problems with the fluid.

OK, well first, if you got the oil changed last at 57k and you're at 70k now, get it done. Our engines are at risk of sludge and the best preventative maintenance is always using synthetic with large filter and doing it as required or even more often.

Second, the timing belt is technically due at 100k. Hoever, we have interference engines, meaning if the belt breaks while driving, things hit each other and you'll be paying mucho $ to replace bent valves. I doubt it's necessary to do it at 60k. However, I'm at 73k miles now and plan to have it done before 80k (likely with my stimulus check!).

Yeah I just got my 60,000 mile service today at the stealership and only got bent over for $420.85...

and I have an '03 A4 1.8TQuattro 5spd

How come I never see any CVTs up here in vermont? They are still considered concept cars at this point LOL we get everything last. one of 5 states with california's ridiculous emissions regulations...

I have a CVT and I took it to the dealership for the 60K service. Cost me $250 -- and spark plugs are NOT included. They do those at 40K & 80K.
They also told me a number of things were leaking:
Water pump, valve cover gasket, motor mounts

and my one way check valve was bad (???).

Auditech79 was dead onfor my 60k service including spark plugs (minus air filter, I told them to keep their grubby little paws off my Carbonio, they already get$#!7all over myride as it is). How different *are* the CVTs from regular autos and manuals?!? It cant be more than just the tranny can it?

I always saw them listed on Edmunds and stuff, but there are no CVTs at the stealership and no one I know with an Audi has one. No one I know and no car that I have seen at any dealer (new or used) has CVT cars around me actually... and I look around a lot... I'm going to redouble my efforts though, I want to take one out for a drive now.
