Default New 1994 Audi 80 noob question

Hi all,
New to Audis and new to the site, but i've done a search and difficult to find anything on this simple one.

Just bought a 1994 Audi 80, 2.3 5cyl and I cannot figure out for sure if its got central locking or not. I was told it did and silly me didnt properly test the bugger and i cant seem to get it working - so obviously my thoughts are that it doesn't. I really thought it did and quite disappointed if it doesnt, but i'm wondering if there is any way to tell technically, if it has the option or not ?
Or is there any particular tricks to get it working - like unlocking certain doors then trying it, or does the key turn different ??
I know it sounds stupid, but this is the first car i've owned with this type of key turn - where it doesn't actually turn more than about a quarter turn...
Hope this makes sense, but essentially are there any funky tricks for the central locking on these things ??
Thanks

I think it should have central locking ... both of my old cars do ... to make sure if it does or doesn't you'll need to pull off one of the door panels and look for either vacum lines or electrical conections to the locking mechanism .... the 1/4 key turn sound odd though

the central locking system is easy to understand.
it easer vacuem to close or presure to open.
the 1/4 of turn is to open trunk, its 90, 180 and 225 degrees. 90 is locked, 180 is locked or unlocked by the central locking system , and 225 is is unlock, you turn 1/4 and then key returns to 180 degrees.

the doors are easy, they turn eather way 1/4 to lock or unlock.

thats it.

i'm sorry kakarot but i dont quite understand your reply - are you saying for the doors only, the 1/4 to unlock or lock is normal ?
And should that unlock/lock all doors ?

Thanks for both replies all...

All,

I just noticed in the owners manual that apparently there is a central locking fuse ?? Could this be my problem - the fuse is gone ?

Thx

hmm, just check if you have tubes in the doors and solenoids, it be easiest. or easier check if you have a solenoind in your fuel door or in the trunk door.
though checking a door would be 100% sure. also pasenger front door if has central system cannot be open with a key,
hmm, thats all foks.....

Just an update all ...
It turned out it was the central locking pump in the boot that was completely shizzled ... replaced it and voila ... works fine.
Surprised no one here suggest that .. ?? ...
