2005 allroad RR tire wear...
Basics: 2004 allroad with 57,000 miles. Well maintained, no wrecks.
When I last replaced tires, the right rear on the old tires was worn WAY more than the other three. I bought new tires, and had a proper four wheel alignment done on the car.
5,000 miles later, the right rear is almost completely gone, while the other three have plenty of tread.
All four tires are wearing pretty evenly across the tread, but this one tire just wears way faster than the other three. I use Audi's recommended tire pressures, and check pressure often.
The alignment was rechecked today, and the toe was out slightly (.28 of a degree), but that seems awfully little to wear a tire out in 5,000 miles.
I also changed the rear dif oil, and the stuff that came out didn't show signs of problems in the dif.
My driving style is VERY tame in this car, so it's not something I am doing.
One suggestion is the right rear airbag/shock is failing. I have noticed my allroad is a bit skittish over bumps, with the rear end "hopping" if I hit a bump at 40-plus MPH. That would point to a shock (or shocks) on a normal car, but I don't know on the air suspension.
Is it possible for a shock to go bad without effecting the airbag? The car doesn't "sink" overnight in the garage, so the bag seems to be okay.
Another suggestion was control arm bushings.
Anyone else had this problem?

Well, RUF Auto Centre, one of the best shops in Dallas, could not figure it out, so I took it to University Park Audi, and they had the car for three days, and could not figure it out. So, I guess I'll just have to replace RR tires every 6,000 miles.
Man, what a mystery. There has to be a reason, but everything on the car seems to be just fine.

I had a similar problem with my 04 allroad. the car would pull to the right and the tires on that side were wearing faster then the left. it was aligned twice and still would pull right. the shop thought it was a bad tire. since the tires were getting worn i made the decision to get new rubber all the way around and what a differance! immediately i could feel it, the steering had a netural feel in my hands and it did not pull to the right. So, there must have been something wrong with the old tires. btw...stock size is 225/55-17 but i went with a set of 235/55-17 Cooper CS-4, a little wider, taller and fill up the wheel well better.
