Not sure what happened in the interim but on day 1 compressor sounded smooth and quiet, now sounds loud. We have 18 in of snow and wind chill of minus 20 so I'm not crawling under car today. But I think the little piece of plastic tubing came loose and is blowing air into space instead of to the 4 corners. I have had this car for 7 years and only recently did I notice that on occasion there is a sudden, audible expulsion of air in a great woosh sometimes when the car is just sitting. Is that a normal occurance?
When that has occurred there was no change in car level.
This is why I've been discussing with Andy the need to bench test the compressor before and after refurbish. His kit is a cheap and easy way to get an othwise good compressor back to 16bar.
So assume compressor good then u know your fuse and relay are good. Assume lines are good and hoses
Well the leak must be from an air strut
Soapy test time
Valve fault ? Probably not
Likely you saw one corner sagging before the others ?
Once the leaking starts the compressor works overtime and its downhill from there

Trying driving the car as soon as you hear the compressor running and you feel the car about to rise. .. My car sometimes lowers itself overnight or after a few hours parked and wont rise up after pressing the buttons but it rises to at least the second position when I move it when I feel it rise. otherwise it bottoms out while stationary and I have to switch engine off and on several times before it rises to the desired postion

Default Audi A8 2006 Air Suspensions

Hi All, I'm new here. I have an Audi A8 2006. Since November 2013 I started hearing a noise coming from my front both of my front suspensions and went away after the car warmed up. Each time I hit a pump, it makes a squeaking noise. Sounds like something was frozen under there. But this only happens when the temperature is under 60 degrees. Two weeks from I saw that my front suspensions were all the way on the ground and went up after I started the car. After that it started to take 2-3 minutes for the car to go up. Both green and yellow lights flashed then went away. Today, I started the car to go to work and the suspensions won't rise. I heard the pump runs for about 2 minutes and then shuts off. The yellow and greens lights go from flashing to steady. If anyone knows of a good mechanic that can save help me. I would really, really, really appreciate the info. I live in Brooklyn, NY. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi Andy,

Thank you for the reply. It was an air leak from my driver side front wheel. I'm going to attach two pictures. It seems like the top part that holds the air bag disconnected from the bottom piece where the "O" ring is located. I will attach two pictures, one is the broken and the other is the way it was supposed to look. I don't know if it can be fixed.

Also, I started the car to move it bc of street cleaning and then all 4 wheels dropped. I do not know what happened. Any ideas anyone?

Default Air suspensions

Hi All,

Does anyone know a good aftermarket website to get air suspensions from? My O-ring seal went bad and the bottom piece is not staying connected to hold the air inside. Thank you in advance!!

Hi,

buy aftermarket air suspension here from arnott:

https://www.arnottindustries.com/part_AUDI_yid17.html

is it the lower o-ring around the shock absorber leaking? if only the o-ring causing the problems you could potentially just buy the o-ring from a o-ring supplier,

regards

Andy

Hi Andy,

It is the lower O-ring that you described. I tried to search for it and could not find any supplier? I already ordered the an air suspension from Arnott. Thank you guys for the info.

I use polymax, but they are in the UK, there will be an equivalent seller near you:

O-Rings - Viton | Nitrile | EPDM | PTFE | Silicone | HNBR | Kalrez

Hi all

I have some problems that i hope you can help me with.

The allroad was parked for a few days and the car is so low that it is almost hitting the front wheels, rear are okey.
The car has not had any problems before.

Problems
- Leveling yellow warning light on dash SOLID from start.
- Leveling buttons do not work
- Jack mode do not work
- Compressor no sound

So after many hours of reading i have read about
airbags
compressor
relays
fuses
I began to check the fuse (40a under the steering wheel) and fuse was okey
Changed the relay and the compressor started to sound and working(before relay change no sound) but the car still same level.

After relay change
- Leveling warning light on dash now BLINK yellow
- Leveling warning light on dash disappears
- Leveling buttons now get green light
- Only level 1 available
- Jack mode seems work by pressing both buttons for 5 sec, but do not see any changes on leveling (maybe because it is as low as it can be?)
- Compressor works for a few seconds (maybe 30sec) then go off
- Car still do not lift

Questions

- Could this be caused by a bad battery?
- Could it be caused by cold weather?
- How is the bagpipingandy Kit for this symptoms?
- Are there any other fuses to check beside, the 40a under the steering wheel?
- If bad airbag with this symptoms, should i still feel any movement on leveling?
- Also there was something about filter change when changing the new kit, what filter is that? where is the exact location?

Do anyone have pictures or video of
- The removal of compressor process
- The air pipe lines
- How to check other things related, as airbags, o-rings etc.
