Default differemce between A6 avant and allroad?

just curious as to what the differences are... ie done a lil reading and i see that there are level adjusters which im assuming is ride height adjustment? im looking into getting one.. i have a b5 a4 currently but the back seat is microscopic... there is a 2.7t all road here locally the dealership is asking 5995 and im thinking about buying it... what should i look for?

for starters check the common problems thread. then go to the lot and look at the car after it been sitting untouched on level 1 of the suspension. If the car looks like its been lowered or slammed then stay away from it or buy the extended warranty and make sure it covers the air suspension and the turbo and get it in writing. I love my allroad but i wouldnt suggest buying another unless it was a v8.

The allroad is basically a A6 on steroids. I had a 96 A6 avant which had the 2.8 12valve v6 auto, no tip. Now i have a 04 allroad 2.7t 30valve v6, auto tip with sport mode, big performance upgrade. The adjustable ride height is the other big differance. Flared fenders (with 25mm wheel spacers) and dual exhust make it look pretty cool. The allroad can go where my A6 only dreamed of going. The Bose audio systems also has the best sound i have had in anything. I did have to add Hotchkis sway bars to get the allroad to feel like the A6 in the corners. The seats in the A6 felt real nice, but it could be because it had over 240k miles and were well formed.

Besides the normal things to look at on any used car, check the air suspension on level ground. measure the ride height at each wheel for each setting. you should hear the compressor come on to get to the height then shut off. if you go to the dealer take it out for a ride and leave it at the heighest setting when you get back. stop by the next morning and see if the ride height is still where you left it. hopefully they left it as you did so you can tell if the air bladders have a leak.
