Default Suspension Setting

I recently replaced my 99 qx4 (slow, very slow, pig... did I mention slow), with an 04 Allroad 4.2. This car is so much fun to drive. One question I have is regarding the adjustable ride height. I have heard that position 2 or 3 is the most "natural" position and easiest on the tires, suspension and fuel economy. No snow on the ground here, so unless I am heading off on forest service roads for camping or mountain biking, I can safely set the suspension at whatever height I wish. But, I would definitely like to have it set at the most efficient height, if such a position exists.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I heard from dealership that it is 1. What is strange though is that when I get my car back from firestone tires to do alignment, I get it back on setting 2. I usually have mine at 2 for driving around town and notice that if I need to stop after a fast stretch that the car needs to elevate so it seems that its automatically lowering to 1 eitherway at higher speeds.

If you've got it in automatic it will drop down to 1 on it's own at 55mph (i think that's what i read in the OM). So unless i'm on a dirt road I generally keep it there figuring that'll get the best gas mileage.
