Default Help With installing 6.5" in rear deck

Hey guys I have a 99.5 audi a4 1.8T Q and i believe the rear speaker size is 6.5" right? Well i am purchasing a pair of alpine type R speakers 6.5" and I need a little advice on how to install them. I currently have the bose system in my car but I am changing it as 2 speakers blew.

Thanks

before you go and buy the new speaks check out your old bose, i've heard of a lot of them having the inner dust cover come partially unglued (including mine) making the speaker rattel and sound blown. I just removed the old glue and rubber cemented the cover back on, sounds as good as new. Another thing with aftermarket speakers is you can never find an exact fit to replace the bose, and the alpines have a higher impeadance than the stock bose 2ohm speakers. So you will get less sound from them

Default RE: Help With installing 6.5" in rear deck

Ibelieve the B5 A4's have 5 1/4"speakers in the rear deck if it has Bose.(I could be wrong they might be 61/2" but I'm pretty sure they're 51/4". It's been a little while sinceI worked on one of those.) They also only play lows and mids. You may wantto consider buying a component set. The mid range speaker that comes with a component set is designed to only playlows and mids, where as, a coaxial speaker is designed to pay full range. You will get better bass response with the component mid than the coaxial speaker. You can then take the tweeters with the component set and replace therear tweeters with those.I would recommend going to best buyor something like that and purchasingsome highpasscapacitors or tweeter caps as they call them and put those on thetweets and don't use the crossovers they come with. I've done this before in those cars and they sound GREAT using the factory deck and Bose amp.I am actually a MECPMaster Installer, and happen to be an install manager at Best Buy in Milwaukee, WI. That's why I know alot about this. The "tweeter caps" are made by Install Edge, which is a sub-company of Rockford Fosgate. They go for $10.99 for a pair and wire in series with the positive speaker wire. Hope I helped you out. Let me know if you need anything else.
