Default 1999 A4 1.8T Spares or Repair - ABS light

Hi,

Just gauging interest in my 1999 A4 1.8T manual.

Silver exterior, black cloth interior.

New (refurbed) engine at 93000, still have receipts.

I just cant get the ABS light to go off so cannot get it through VA state inspection.

Completely standard except 5 spoke Rims.

Recent new front axles and Catalytic convertor $1000+ worth of work.

If there is any interest drop me a PM or update here.

Pics to follow.

Just curious. How long has the abs light been on. If it has been on since the axles it is possible missing or cracked toner ring.
It will be best to get someone or shop that can scan abs modules on VAG products.

Its been on since before any work was done. It comes and goes, though mostly comes.

I had one guy (not a VAG shop) try and identify the issue but he could not get any read from the module so wanted $1900 for a new ECU!

I tried replacing the ABS control unit - light stayed on.

Tried cleaning the front ABS sensors - light stayed on.

Even with ABS fixed and VA state, there is still a list of advisories that would need doing to restore this car.

What did you replace the control module with? A used one? , Was the module coded to the vehicle?
What are the fault codes?

How much are you looking to get for it?

My registration was set to run out end of Feb and i didn't have state inspection.

For fear of receiving fines, i ended up taking my A4 to Carmax.

I got $1200 for it.

Sorry if you had interest in it, i just didn't leave myself enough time to deal with it properly.
