I got a flat last night... (front passenger tire)

the spare I have which is now on the car, is the same size as my other 3 tires. 225/45?/17 whatever the middle # is it's the same...


So.. my question is.. the other 3 tires have been on since late September. Do you think the difference in tread is more than 2/32 ? I haven't got a chance to look since I just woke up and left this morning and didnt have a chance to look at all of the tires. I'd say I probably drove about 2000-2500 miles with my new tires before this spare was put on last night.

I know that the tire dimensions have to be the same, (search results) but will the tread be significantly off ?

im sure the diff is not significant. as long as you fix the flat soon, it shouldnt cause any problems

 

Even if one had half the tread on it it's not like it will cause any harm just make sure its mounted on the back so your front tires are the same. Also unless you drive really hard the tires will show little wear what so ever. That also depends on quality though but most tires are rated for close to 30,000 miles or above

 

yeah i had about 1 or 2/32 on my old 205/60 tires when i got a flat and had to use the spare which was prettymuch new (~10/32) and on top of that it was 215/60, which would've made at least a 2 inch difference in rolling distance (circumference) and it didnt give me any problems after ~2weeks of using it!
