Parting Out my totaled A4 worthwhile???
Hi folks -
I am looking for INFORMED opinions -
Somebody totalled my 1999 A4 1.8T 2WD 5 spd. on the freeway up here near Seattle
Their insurance company is giving me the option of taking the wrecked car for a pretty low amount of $$. Is parting out an A4 worth my time and hassle? The big damage is the rear, so I don't have any reason to think that anything major in the front half of the car would be broken. Interior is good and complete. The car has 129,000 miles on it. It is silver with a grey "leatherette" interior in good condition
I am pretty handy with wrenching and have done quite a bit of maintenance to my cars, and wouldn't have too much trouble taking this one apart. But between here and Craig's List and eBay, how much could I end up getting by parting it out? Should try to sell the whole wrecked car or...?
Thanks,
Jed

If you can get it for around a $1000 which i'm guessing they might be offering it to you for maybe less even, judging by how severe the rear damage is, i'd say do it. There's silver doors on ebay right now from an a4 for $250 a piece, If you have time, tools, skills, and they are offering to let you keep the car for cheap, do it! there's a lot there that you could part out. If you were to build one of these cars from scratch it would cost a lot, basically what i mean is theres a lot of little things that we generally over look that add up.
