Is third-party warranty worthwhile?
Hi all,
I just bought a 00 A6 2.7T with 98k miles, do you think it's worthwhile to purchase a third party warranty (e.g. http://www.autorepairwarranty.com/)?
It's about $1400 though.
What are your experiences?
Thanks!

RE: Is third-party warranty worthwhile?
a 3rd party warranty is great, but do some backgound work on the company first. i got burned when mine went belly up. luckily my indi dealer did the best he could to cover warranty work as much as possible. LOL

RE: Is third-party warranty worthwhile?
Yes. Yes. And Yes.
It's true that it depends on the company, but do a BBB search and find a good one. My A6 is certified pre-owned so I'm covered to 100K but my previous car (money pit BMW 328iC) didn't have an extended and I spent $7500 over four years on various repairs. German cars are like French women... you shouldn't ride 'em without protection.

yes. It depends on from who. See my links below for what I did.
With 98K miles, you won't find anyone that will warranty you beyond 100K...if so....then I would questiont the viability of the underwriter.
Search audiworld.com on this topic is covered quite a bit.
