[Q] Weird instrument cluster lights issue -- always on even without headlights on
Suddenly, for no apparent reason, I'm now seeing a new "behavior" with my instrument cluster lighting. Previously, the white back light for the numbers and gauge ticks would be off in all positions except headlights on. Only the red LED computer display and the red indicator needles would be on. The white lighting would only be on the headlights are on. It's a simple, easy way to know when your headlights are active.
But now... these lights are on in all modes except "off". I don't even need the key. With the car off, if I turn the light switch to any other position other than off, the white numeric back lights all come on. They wouldn't come on before. Thankfully the lights do go off when the light switch is in the off position. So I don't have to worry about the battery being drained. It's a "passive" change that doesn't really affect function, but because this isn't the usual behavior I'm worried it might be an indication of some other looming problem that could become worse.
Has anyone here seen this instrument light behavior happen in their A3?
