I took out my speedometer cluster in my '98 A4 1.8T Tip to take a look at the broken LCD display. Anyhow, I put it back completely in my car and afterwards noticed that the lights to the cluster turn on when the car is started even though the headlights aren't on.

I can't remember if this was how it was or not before I took out the speedometer cluster. Can anyone confirm that this is the same in their car? I just want to be sure that it's normal. Thanks!

You can actually change the coding in the instrument cluster to change that but its normal in the united states.

 

are you serious? mine do not come when with only ignition power, i have to turn the headlights on lol. i'll double check when i get my ecu back
