hi all - my first post

i own an old shape A3 1.8T 150bhp - 2003 '03 reg, with 43k on the clock

i've had it for about 8 months, with no problems

however, yesterday when driving home from work I notice that the engine management system warning light is on - the car runs fine, there is no problem with starting (even this morning, from cold), no problems with idling, and no problems with loss of power

i realise it could be on for a multitude of reasons - but does anyone have any idea of common causes, and things I could look for?

The car is still under 1 year dealer 2nd hand warranty, so I'll probably take it into the dealers for them to have a look at it, although I can't do this until next week at the earliest - will I be OK to drive it around this weekend? I have 2 long journeys planned



Also - for some reason, for a while I've *always* seemed to get the "engine cold" warning signal beeping at me every time i start the car from cold. I thought this could be due to the cold weather? - although I think it could be a coolant low warning? - the cooland level looks OK though in the bottle

Anyone got any clues? thanks for any help

 

Hi - my first post too.

I have a 1.8T but on a V Plate.

I also have had an engine warning light come on recently. I have taken it back to an engine electrical specialist several times, and they find a fault by plugging their gadget into the dashboard and cancel the light, however this doesn't resolve the root cause. Their equipment states that it is too lean on banks 1 and 2, not sure what this means or why, Im planning on taking it back to them next week for a full diagnostic check. I beleive it may be the Mass Airflow Meter, lamda sensor or even faulty injectors. I get a loss of power and a bit of a splutter and what feels like choking on some days but it can be completely fine on others. They told me they have had a similar problem with a TT!

Does this sound familiar?
