2006 A3 HVAC Problem. Easy DIY??
A couple weeks ago, first real warm day of the summer of course, I notice my ECON button won't turn off. VAG COM throws the fault code:
Address 08: Auto HVAC Labels: 8P0-820-043.lbl
1 Fault Found
00796 - Fan for Interior Temp Sensor (V42)
011 - Open Circuit - Intermittent
The fan is sucking in air to the sensor, upon startup there is a light knocking or clicking noise every couple seconds coming from that same area. Aside from having to remove the radio to access the climate control panel, am I correct in assuming this is a relatively quick and easy fix? Loose wire, faulty sensor, etc?
UPDATE: It's the faulty compressor that was apparently shipped with all 2006-2007 A3s, of course Audi isn't covering their own defect. Out of warranty, not going to be cheap. Gonna be a warm summer apparently.
