Checked the fuses and they are good.

Looked up a lot of other posts and they all say blower motor resistor is a common failure.

So I'm looking for a replacement, and there seem to be two. One looks like a hedgehog thing and the other is a flat pack with a harness connector on one end.

Which one do I need? One is ~70$(hedgehog) the other about 15$

Anyone have any insight?

 

If I interpret you correctly the "hedgehog thing" is the regulator not resistor. The flat pack with the harness connector is the resistor and from the sounds of it the part you need.
