I am really anxious for someone to get the titanium option so we can see some pics!

I ordered mine July 27 and just talked to my dealer who has an estimated arrival date of around Oct 1.

An update from my dealer: I ordered mine on June 12. It was accepted for production in Germany on July 27, shipped on August 22, and will arrive in the port of Houston on September 17. From there it takes 10-14 days to arrive at the Denver "railhead", and from there presumably still further lag time until it gets in my hands.

So basically, my June 12 order won't arrive until October. Every time I talk to this dealer, I get a further setback in the estimated arrival date. (And he doesn't offer updates unsolicited--I have to keep nagging to get any information at all.) I'm incredibly pissed right now, and trying to get my deposit back. This dealership experience (Prestige Imports, outside Denver) has soured me on Audis and cars in general. Bah.

ziguocius, do you have a pressing need for the car, or are you just excited to take delivery? The reason I ask is because you might want to use this extra time to order a set of snow tires pre-mounted on steel rims. October in Denver means snow isn't too far behind.

No pressing need; thanks for the tip. I'm going to see how well I can fare on just all-season tires and AWD, but snow tires and wheels may be in my near future. At this point I just hope I can get my deposit back and take my money elsewhere (where the dealer doesn't make delivery promises that are two months off).

Well, it's done. I got my deposit back from Prestige Imports outside Denver. I signed a contract on June 12 for an A3, which they promised would arrive by August. Then they said late August. Then September. Then October. Then I asked for a refund for my $2,000 deposit, and they gave it to me.

I'm currently shopping for a 08 WRX instead. (The only reason I didn't consider them before is that I really want electronic stability control, which is newly offered on the 08s.)

It's a shame things didn't work out with the A3, but I'll be saving ~$11,000 by choosing the WRX, and getting basically everything I want anyway. (Including some extra things, like mp3 capability and an aux input.)

This forum community has been great for me. I hope you all enjoy your A3s.

ttfn! (tata for now)

EDIT: There will be an unclaimed 2008 brilliant black / grey interior A3 3.2 with no factory-installed options at Prestige Imports some time in October. I was scheduled to pay $34,075 + taxes for it (~$900 over invoice, ~$1,600 under MSRP). I hope someone can give it a good home, without being charged an arm and a leg for it, of course.

Wow, I'm not suprised you left that dealer, but very suprised you want with a wrx. Talk about a completely different car! [sm=insomnia.gif]
You went from refined, entry level luxury with good get up and go.... to no frills raw effing power!

Good luck man! [sm=smiley20.gif]

Looks like delivery time is on schedule. Just got a note from my dealer...

"Your car had been built and arrived to the port in Germany. The boat with your car will leave on September 17-th and will arrive in Houston on October 1-st. So you can expect to see it at the dealership around 4-th or 5-th of October."

This is good because I just sold my car and will be carless starting this weekend.

That's excellent, d2mini. I wish mine had arrived so promptly. As it is, I just nestled my new Subaru WRX into my garage 10 minutes ago. Woohoo!

(You're right that it's completely different. But I think 'no frills' suits me better than luxury!)

Well, IMO, a person cannot have too much luxury. The only problem is that we grow used to being in such luxury and won't settle for less. The Sub is a nice car and well put together, but it's definitely not luxury. My Mom owned one for a while and it felt like a competent, sure footed tin can.

To each their own. I hope you enjoy your new ride. It's always fun getting a new car.

Cheers!
