Default 2008 A3 ECU fault

I need some help,

My 2008 A3 2.0Tfsi S Line was left sitting whilst i was offshore for 4 weeks. Upon return it wouldn't start & numerous warning lights displayed on the dashboard.

The engine would turn over, ruling out a flat battery. So I towed it to a local garage who plugged in the diagnostics computer which returned with "No communication to ECU"

I've since towed it to the local Audi garage who will be looking at it tomorrow. Unfortunately the warranty expired last September and I will be footing the bill for this repair.

My question is, has anyone heard of this kind of problem before? And leaving a car sitting for 4 weeks shouldn't be a problem, is there anyway Audi would be likely to assist with the repair?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

what did the dealer say? i have a 2006 a3, and i've left mine sitting for 3 weeks while out of the country. didn't have any problems, but i did leave it on a trickle charger to maintain the battery.

Hey mate, eventually got it back a week later from Audi, it turns out there's drainage holes somewhere in the engine bay which had become blocked with leaves etc, this let water build up and then saturated some wiring to the ECU... £500 to replace the wires & the car was back to normal. Thankfully not a new ECU, but still quite pricey for some new wires!

I guess when the car is used regularly this water gets moved about enough to drain elsewhere. Worth checking drainage holes in the engine bay & keep them clear!
