2012 a3 tdi?
I'm a new comer for this forum and A3 will be my 1st Audi.
Ordering a brand new 2012 A3. I was told TDi is better choice to go, but cost more and 2012 price list is not out yet. Any advice out there should I get a TDI?
thanks,
Czivko

Personal preference really. I bought a 2011 A3 TDI and I am happy with it. More torque and less top horsepower, but you have to be near red-lining it to have the gas model get the best speed and times of the specs.
Think of the way you will be driving the car. 140HP/236#T vs. 200HP/207#T, but at different RPMs. If you calculate out the power curves it works out that the TDI has more horespower below the break-even point of about 3000-3500RPMs and the TFSI has more horsepower above that. (The TDI red-lines at 4600RPMs and the TFSI red-lines at 6000RPMs)
Do you do most of your driving at 2000RPMs or 5000RPMs? Are you feeling the need to race every hot-rod that pulls up beside you at a light? (If you are, you should probably get an American car, because it will be cheaper to ruin the engine with American parts)
I think it feels more powerful to have the diesel with the style of driving I do.
