I took my A3 into the dealer today because the airbag light was on. They told me that the passenger side seat belt latch mechanism needed to be replaced to the tune of $440 and it is causing the airbag light to stay on.
Is this something I should have the dealer repair or is something that I could have repaired more economically by an independent mechanic? I was wondering if the cost was in parts or labor. I don't usually have passengers in my car so for now I am living with the light on, but at some point it needs to be repaired. I would appreciate any thoughts on this.
