On mine, they are on 100% of the time if the light is switched to the "Auto" setting or the park light setting. (Two notches to the right of off on the 2011 A3 TDI).

 

Thanks but I'm moving to Kanuckistan and they require that the DRL are on whenever the car is in motion and they do not trust the operator to not move the switch.

Oh well, I have a A3 checkup tomorrow so I'll just get them to do it. I think it's just a software issue anyway.

Blurg. Took the car to the dealer. The techs spent an hour going through the software but couldn't figure it out.
