Default A3 Pooling water at windshield base

I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that water does not drain from the plastic catch under the left side (facing) of the front windshield. The result, for those of us living where there is a high content of minerals in the water, is that minerals tend to build up over time and leave a nasty residue after washing. The right-side catch drains well, so I'm assuming this a design flaw. Minor but annoying.

where do you park your car? under a tree, I doubt the water minerals have anything to do with it otherwise we would all be dead by now from blocked drains, check for leaves blocking the drains

The issue is not that anything is being blocked. The problem is that the angle is such that water simply pools instead of running off. The residue is a result of water sitting in that area. Where I live (Cali), we get our water from wells where there is a ton of minerals - especially lime. Washing the car and leaving that water to sit even overnight will begin to leave a white film. This is clearly a locale thing - obviously not an issue in the UK. I do appreciate your response though!

simply resolved then ensure the drain is clear and put grease in the drains this will prevent build up

Yeah, I agree w/Dave, check to make sure the drain holes are clear. There are 2 of them in the plastic cowling, 1 just forward ofeach wiper shafts. They are small and more of an oval shape then a round hole.
Itwould be pretty easy to block one with just the smallest amount of debris. If you don't see anything blocking the hole, poke a pipe cleaner in there to make sure it's unobstructed...

I have the same issue when I wash my car, it is the first area I dry.

Use the Mr. Clean filters when you wash the car. Takes out all the minerals and won't leave water spots. I've used it for almost 2 years now and it woulds awsome, I've never seen a better shine from just a wash. I think the system is $40 at walmart or something, might be cheaper not sure, nice being able to spray on the soap too
