The damage on the back of the car doesn't look that bad, but the entire front of the Saturn was smashed in, radiator leaking, etc. I'm wondering how much damage lies beneath the surface? If the frame is bent in the back and the front, then the car will never be the same again.

if your frame is twisted up front and back, fight your *** off to get them to total the car. Make damn sure you go to a body shop who you can trust that will take your side and not the insurance adjusters budget. I know an great place in whittier, but i dont know how far it would be for you to take it.

I have the car at a shop that I really trust and does a fantastic job. He started pulling parts off the car today and writing the estimate up and he said that he'd have it all done tomorrow. We'll see what happens?

I have such mixed feelings about the whole thing. I absolutely love my car and want it back, but I don't want any long term problems from the wreck. If the car is totalled, then I'm shopping for another A3 with the same color and options. I'd like to have bluetooth in the new one though. That's saying a lot about how much I love this little car!

I'm heading to San Diego for the next few days for work, then directly on vacation for the following week. I'll post later what happens.

Cheers!

New to the scene, just got a ,07 A3 2.0T and, Chef, loved to hear your comments on mods and other things. Sorry to hear about your accident. 3 years ago my wife and I were driving our 3months old MR2 when I had to make an emergency stop at a stop light, police and firefighters going through and the lady (80 years old) in an RV did not apply the brakes, the result, a 3 months old MR2 smashed to pieces. The frame ws bent but since the car was so new, they wanted to repair it, after 18K worth of repair and me telling them I would not drive that car again and 3 months of batlling back and forth, they scrapped the car. You just do not want anything to the frame.
Good luck to you.

Chef,
I'm new to forum and sorry for you're luck. My A3 was wrecked over the weekend. Suffering front end damage and a $3,378.74 repair costs.

Will post pictures later.

Chef: my condolences.

When I first saw the post I didn't noticed the thread was started by you. When I saw that I thought to myself, that cannot be, didn't his van just got smashed last month?

Dang. I commiserate too. Every day I see people who cannot drive, or are not paying attention, and it just pisses me off. Every two or three days I would be in a "close call" because someone else was not paying attention, or just being plain stupid.

Hard to say... If we had NA cars, I wouldn't have tried to go around. But in a turbo car, do you take the front end damage (to the intercooler and piping as well) or the harder to fix fender damage? Sigh... I know what you mean re: once the frame is bent (even slightly) it would never be the same again.

If you end up getting an Audi (or blasphemy, even a VW, e.g., GTI 4 door) would you have to pay Revo again? Afterall, not your fault that your A3 was hit. (Yes that's the lawyer thinking again.)

Thanks Yuppie.

I think since it would be a totally different car that REVO would make me purchase the program again. The only benefit is that the switch device is a separate piece that I won't have to buy again. If I have to purchase another car, then it will be an A3 again, no doubt. I love the car and nothing else can compare to it at the moment in the same price range. I haven't heard back from the shop yet and have a moments break in San Diego. I think I will call him and see what's up?

Cheers!

Hey Chef I know what you feel like now. Same happened to me back in October. You should be there when the claim adjuster comes from the insurance company. When he came I was pointing out every single thing that was wrong and making him feel sorry for me saying that a repaired car never feels the same etc. I basically made a friend out of him and made him feel my pain haha. Then as he was leaving he said he would do the best he can to consider it totalled. One week later I got a call from the insurance company telling me that they are sending me a check and go pick out a new car . So I hope everything works out in your favor.
