A3 Wrecked x2!
ORIGINAL: A3Night
Sadly no new A3 for me... Porsche? When did I say that? If I'm ever going to pay porsche $$$ I'd get an Ariel Atom.
I talked to my insurance company (AAA) yesterday and they'll give me an answer within 3 days. In the meantime I'm looking for other possible cars. Right now I narrowed it down to:
1) 2003 Honda s2k or 2007 s2k
2) Toyota FJ 4x4
3) Nissan Frontier or Toyota Tacoma(both 4x4 with 4doors)
4) 2007 civic si (I know... [:-] I'm hoping a test drive will kill my lust for one)
5) VW GTI (dont really want another turbo car but at leastsome of my modscan transfer to it)
Soo... question now is... which one would you allow in your monthly GTG? [:-]

Respects.
All valid points! I know I would've died in a truck... been more injured in a civic... and probably been about the same in the s2000 (5 star crash rating)
The A3 is a superior car. However, I've always wanted an s2000 roadster. In fact, when purchasing the A3 the only other car I was looking at was the s2000. I will miss the A3 but I realized what I missed in the s2000. I love the openness, tightness, and the amount of feedback this car gives. Its truly a driver oriented car. Mind you that I'm only 24 and all I need is another seat for the wife, and enough trunk room for a 3-day vacation. I will also be keeping this car until itthese two hands cant fix it. Its a classic roadster that defines our generation well.
Today I sat in a tacoma, 4 runner, and a FJ. All crap cars... didn't even want to test drive. However, that new toyota tundra was sweet! If I could somehow justify dropping 45k I would do it today.
I still have time to think things over. I'll need a car soon tho since I didn't opt for the rental reimbursement for the insurance [:@]
Asfor parting out my car I know only 1 rear rim is good. The turboback is probably gone. I did luckily remove some other parts before the accidentthat I'll probably sell if I dont go GTI/A3.

My friend was in a similar situation... Truck tire on the road in the middle of the night. He was in a Chevy Tahoe... it flipped a few times. He's dead.
A3Night: Stay away from the trucks/SUVs.

A3Night! Wow what a sight! After seeing those pics, I think I'll slow down.
I'm glad you got out of that with minor injuries because that really looked bad. Like you I love driving my A3 so I guess you're an example of what could happen at any time.

Richard,
I'm shocked at the destruction, but very happy that you are doing well. I feel like a chump with my "little" accident. You definitely smashed the hell out of that car and should count yourself very lucky to be walking and talking still. I've been on vacation and just caught your post and the picture when my friend's computer died and I didn't get a chance to respond. I'm just thankful for your good health and wellbeing. You never did answer if you had any injuries?
I thought long and hard about my purchasing decision, and if I'd purchase an A3 again. I came to realize that I fully love my Audi A3 and would purchase it again, definitely. Although, now I have the choice of a couple options not available in 2006. I know that you were looking for a "real" sports car and I hope that the S2000 is the car to make you happy, if that's your choice. Personally, I find the German cars to be much more responsive and tuned to the driver, but that's just my opinion.
You're definitely welcome to our GTG's anytime and in anything. I know that I speak for everyone when I say that we just wish you the best.
Good luck!
